Following their promotion from League Two at the end of last season, Lincoln City got things off to a storming start in their first season back in the third-tier, the Imps winning their opening four games-to-nil in a run which included a fine 1-0 victory at Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup. Any hopes that this would be the norm for Lincoln throughout the season were soon dashed with Michael Appleton’s men soon surrendering their pole position due to a poor run which saw them lose six, draw one and win just one of their subsequent eight league outings. They did return to winning ways when beating Sunderland 2-0 last weekend, however any ambitions of a second successive promotion have been put on hold with the Imps now sitting 11th in the League One table.

Peterborough United got things off to a poor start with just a single point collected from their opening three games along with an early exit from the League Cup courtesy of a 1-0 defeat at Oxford United. They picked things up in hugely impressive fashion by embarking upon a five-game winning run during which they scored seventeen goals and conceded none. Things have settled down since then although they have lost just one of their last five games across all competitions – this run including a 1-0 win over Arsenal U21 in the Leasing.com Trophy – and given that they haven’t lost on home soil since the opening day of the season, we’ll be siding with them to collect all three points at London Road on Saturday afternoon, Ladbrokes Bookmakers going 19/20 on Peterborough United to win.
